wDrive Firmware v0.99c Beta

 wDrive new firmware version 0.99c .

This is a beta version added softSP support and minor bug fix.

This version supported both smartport and softSP. wDrive automatically detect if it is plugged into a smartport or disk ii. softSP driver will be used when it is plugged into non smartport.

 

This version is beta since smartport and softSP is new to wDrive and there maybe compatibility issues. For other disk format: woz, dsk,… it is stable. Pls also note that softSP cannot fully compatible with smartport since the driver occupied some extra memory and use different subroutine addresses.

 

This version does not handle .po smartport image. Pls rename these images to .hdv.

 

We also found that some apple ii versions cannot successfully boot softSP. We need more feedbacks so that we can improve its compatibility.

To Install the Firmware Update:

1. Prepare an SD card loaded with the firmware file (wdrive.bin & wdmain.dat) in the root directory of the card.

2. Press and hold both the left and the select key, then reset the wDrive by pushing the reset button.

3. After resetting the wDrive, the wDrive’s display screen should show the message: “Release key….”.

4. Release the keys and the wDrive will start to update the firmware and finally reboot upon completion.
